MORE ABOUT THE FOUNDER - Susan Jackson
A dual citizen of Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago, Susan brought her love for her Caribbean culture and music with her when she migrated to Canada in 2008. For many years she often struggled with finding the right outlet to support her mental wellness. Along her personal journey, she discovered a passion for fitness and realized how much movement was a powerful outlet for her.
When Susan couldn’t find a fitness brand where she felt truly accepted, she created her own! The birth of ISLAND SWEAT FITNESS on October 10th, 2020 (World Mental Health Day).
As Mental Health Advocate, Susan uses the voice and community given to her through her own fitness journey, to help empower others to use movement as a means of self-care, empowerment, and as a celebration of life.
Susan’s fitness certifications include:
CanfitPro Certified Personal Trainer
Schwinn Certified Spin instructor
Zumba Instructor (non-practicing)
Functional Movement Training (FMT) Mobility Specialist

Community Outreach is a major pillar of ISLAND SWEAT FITNESS. As a humanitarian and one who truly believe in a life of gratitude it is important that I use my voice and platform to support my community. Through collaboration with other small businesses and fitness brands, ISLAND SWEAT FITNESS does Charity Workouts to promote awareness and fundraise for important causes.
In collaboration with The Hitching Post Craft Co. and GET MAD Steps, we collectively raised $1500 for the Ernestines Women and Children Shelter (Toronto, Canada) #StandingUpForWomen
In collaboration with Aleshia Ali (IG @leeshletics), we collectively raised $1561 to support the relief efforts towards those impacted by the La Soufrière Volcanic Eruptions in St Vincent. Our final donation to the NEMO shelters included 800+ children diapers, 350+ adult diapers, 300+ soap bars, 150+ deodorants, 100+ jumbo toothpastes, 100+ dental floss, 9 jumbo bottles of bleach and 2000 masks. #SVGStrong #StVincentStrong
